In the corner window of my art studio, I have a little bowl of joy.
My view of it includes our large, white hydrangea blooms - for now. Extra joy.
My bowl of joy sits beside a large geode chunk, and a rooster feather that, when the sun hits it just right, it, too, brings joy with its iridescent shimmer of green and purple.
My little bowl of joy contains the following:
a piece of star coral
a smooth shell fragment in the shape of a heart
a coquina shell in the shape of butterfly wings, with the deepest, loveliest purple
a few pieces of shimmering mica
a jingle shell
a rich-colored turkey tail mushroom
a large amethyst chunk; amethyst is my birthstone
the fragmented whorl of a whelk shell
a conglomerate rock we found at the beach
a piece of sea glass
a dried gingko leaf
a smoothed shell fragment that has the loveliest colors and lines in it
a green opal gem we received in a grab bag at the gem and mineral show
an unidentified gem with a lovely pink color
a found dead skipper butterfly
a worm shell seashell
and lastly, a tiny alder cone.
You’re probably thinking you need a little bowl of joy now.
I hope you’ll make one.
What will yours have in it?
